Mastery and training
Resident specialists
The Miner, Logger, Farmer, Rancher, Druid and Alchemist each have Mastery from 1 to 10. Talk to the resident and choose View your profile. Completed production earns Mastery XP when goods reach storage. The Alchemist earns XP when you bottle a mixture. The ten segments show the current level, and a second bar shows XP toward the next level. Each level needs more XP than the last. One Verdant Catalyst raises Mastery by exactly one level and keeps any earned XP. Their production storage shows any requirement that blocks an output.
Every resident's profile shows your reputation, its reward milestones and the gift preferences you have discovered by giving gifts. Villagers who do not use Mastery only show their friendship information. Reward contents remain a surprise until you unlock their milestone. Claim ready rewards through normal dialogue. Profiles opened from the Town Journal have a button to return there.
The Miner starts with a Crude Pickaxe and the Logger with a Crude Hatchet. Bring a better tool in your inventory and equip it through the profile's Equipment tab. Replacing an equipped tool returns that tool to your inventory with its condition preserved. Higher tool tiers satisfy lower requirements. A broken tool must be repaired before work can continue.

Timber and growing requirements
Timber Mastery follows the sapling's Farming Bench tier, with a minimum of 1. Sapling tiers 0 to 2 need a Crude Hatchet, tier 3 needs Copper, tier 4 needs Iron, tiers 5 and 6 need Thorium or Cobalt, and tiers 7 and above need Adamantite. A Rootstone tells you when the Logger needs more training for its tree.
Farm crops use their seed's Farming Bench tier for the Farmer's Mastery requirement. The Druid needs Mastery 1, 4 and 7 for alchemical plant tiers 1, 2 and 3. The Rancher needs Mastery 4 for medium hides and red feathers, and 7 for heavy hides. Stored output and material already being carried remain available while you train.
Townsfolk
Townsfolk earn Mastery experience by completing profession work, including crafting, deliveries, building and food care. Their Mastery rises from 1 to 20, with more experience needed at each level. Each level gained awards one skill point. Levels 5, 10, 15 and 20 also award two attribute points.
Open the Townsfolk's profile and spend points beside the attribute or profession you want to improve. Each point adds one level. You can also spend one Gaia Shard for one attribute level or one Verdant Catalyst for one profession level. Training items do not raise Townsfolk Mastery. A profession at zero remains unavailable.
Profession skills have a maximum of 10, and attributes have a maximum of 20. A worker's skill, workplace equipment and recipe requirements all still apply. Mastery progress and trained abilities remain with the same person through resurrection.
