Reputation
Reputation is how much a villager trusts and likes you. It is personal: your score with the farmer does not change your score with the merchant. The meter runs from 0 to 100.
Higher reputation unlocks milestone rewards and sometimes new recipes. Milestone progress and gift taste spoilers for each character are in the Villagers tab of your town journal. Gift history is on the town records shelf in the inn or town hall.
Ways to raise reputation
Talk each day
The first time you speak with a villager after a new morning, you earn a small reputation bonus. Stop by while you are already walking the town. It adds up over time.
Give gifts
During dialogue, choose the gift option while holding an item in your hand. The villager reacts based on whether they love, like, feel neutral about, or dislike the gift. Better reactions give more reputation. A gift they dislike can lower it.
You can only give so many gifts per villager per week, so save strong gifts for people you are trying to impress.
Complete quests
Story quests from the Elder, innkeeper, and other residents often grant reputation when you finish them. The Quests tab in your journal shows item rewards and reputation lines when a quest grants them.
Milestone rewards
Each villager has their own friendship milestones at set reputation levels (not every character uses the same steps). When you cross a threshold, a reward waits for you. Talk to that villager to receive it. Rewards can be items, recipe knowledge, or a special thank-you conversation.
If you pass several milestones at once, talk once and work through what they owe you. The Villagers tab in your journal lists each character and their milestones without spoiling every gift preference.
Gift history on the town records shelf
Open the town records shelf (inn or town hall) and browse by villager. You can see gifts you already gave and how they felt about each one. That helps you avoid repeating mistakes and plan the next present.
Tips
- Rings and necklaces are on every town villager's liked gifts list. Jewelry is a reliable choice before you learn someone's personal favorites. Unidentified jewelry still counts once it is a real ring or necklace in your hand. Read Jewelry under Mechanics for finding and crafting pieces.
- Combine daily visits, quest lines, and thoughtful gifts on the villagers you care about most.
- Milestone rewards are claimed in person. If you crossed a threshold and nothing happened, find them in the world and start dialogue.
