Spirit Garden
Recruit Rowan Mossweald, build his Conservatory and finish the recruitment quest. He gives you two Spirit Planters.
Rowan grows the town's potion plants in Spirit Planters. Craft more at the Town Planning Desk from wood, Life Essence and soil.
- Place a Spirit Planter anywhere inside your town. Leave two free blocks above it.
- Use the planter and pick one of the seeds you carry. It takes one seed.
- Rowan does the rest during his work hours. He plants the seed, grows it with his rite, gathers the harvest and carries it to the Conservatory.
A plant needs three rites to ripen, and it rests for a few hours between them. Rowan must stand at the planter for each rite, so the garden only grows while he is on shift and someone from town is nearby. After each harvest the plant starts again in the same planter for free.
Each harvest brings plants and their petals to the Conservatory's storage cupboard. Blood plants give Blood Petals, Storm plants give Storm Petals and Azure plants give Azure Petals, so the town can brew its own potions. Open the cupboard or any planter to see the whole garden, collect what is stored and uproot a plant you no longer want. Couriers can also carry stored plants and petals to your brewers.
Rowan needs Mastery 1 for the first tier of Health, Stamina and Mana plants, 4 for the second and 7 for the third. He earns Mastery with every harvest he brings home, and you can train him with Verdant Catalysts through his Profile. The seed list on a new planter shows what he can grow now.
If the stores are full of a plant and its petals, Rowan leaves that planter ripe until you make room. Breaking a planter frees it and removes its plant.
Blessings and garden upgrades
Bless a planter with 5 Life Essence to double its next harvest.
Choose Garden upgrades on the Spirit Garden screen, or ask Rowan about upgrades. They are paid with Life Essence and the plants he grows, taken from your pack first, then from the Conservatory's stores and the warehouse.
- More planters lets Rowan tend up to six Spirit Planters. He starts with two.
- Stronger rite shortens the rest between rites, so plants ripen sooner.
- Bountiful harvest adds plants and petals to every harvest.
- Wider stores lets the Conservatory hold more of everything.
Seeds and older gardens
Seed and sapling recipes are available at Crafting workplaces and use the Apprentice's Farming skill. Alchemical seed tiers need Farming 1, 4 and 7. Check each recipe for its cost and equipment requirements. Ordinary seeds cost Life Essence and alchemical seeds cost Void Essence, both at the base game's rates.
Plants you set on Crystal Soil by hand are ordinary plants. Rowan leaves them alone and you can harvest them yourself. Herb Garden workplaces have been removed.
These plants produce potion ingredients. They do not provide town food support.
If a planter is waiting
Check its selected seed, two free blocks above it, Rowan's Mastery, access, work hours and storage room. A ripening rest between rites is normal. These are Rowan's core plants; enable Mycologist or Berry Patch priorities only for the separate Townsfolk workplaces.
