Town records shelf

Villager needs

Every villager in town tracks three needs: hunger, energy, and fun. Each meter runs from empty to full. You can see them on the town records shelf in the inn or town hall, under the Needs tab.

Why needs matter

Villagers slowly get hungrier, tire out, and want entertainment as the day goes on. When a meter is low, they look for the right place in town to fix it.

Needs also tie into taxes. Each morning, residents pay gold into the treasury. The amount depends partly on how comfortable they are. Comfortable villagers pay more. Keeping meters up is good for them and for your town wallet.

Points of interest

Finished buildings add spots villagers can use: beds, benches, counters, workbenches, and similar blocks. Think of each spot as a small action in the world.

  • Beds refill energy only (including beds in houses at night).
  • Benches and seats with a fun spot refill fun only, including park benches.
  • Meal spots (inn hearth, restaurant chairs, counters, and food storage) refill hunger only.
  • Workbenches and shop counters are for the job. They do not refill any need by themselves.

Different plots place different spots. A farm has farming benches. An inn has beds and meal space. A park has outdoor benches meant for relaxing.

How villagers pick a spot

Villagers follow a daily schedule, but a very low meter can pull them away for a while. If hunger is critical, they head for food. If energy is low, they seek a bed. If fun is low, they look for a bench or social spot.

You do not need to click each spot yourself. Build the right plots and they will find them as the day runs.

Houses at night

A house is optional. Villagers only need their workplace plot to hold a job in town.

If you assign someone to a house, they can sleep there at night. That sleep refills energy, which keeps them comfortable for the next morning tithe. Use a park when fun is the problem.

Tips

  • If fun is always the lowest meter, stake a park plot from your planning desk. Park benches are built for relaxing.
  • Use the records shelf Needs tab to see everyone at a glance and teleport a villager to you if you want to check on them.
  • Feasts and some town policies can change how much gold you earn from comfortable residents. Read Treasury and taxes for the money side.
