The same guide as the in-game Town Journal, plus Addons and a Crossmod guide for developers.

Work priorities and wages

The journal's Work page controls civilian Townsfolk. Core specialists such as Irienne and Seren follow their own work systems.

Start a worker

  1. Invite a Townsfolk to settle and make sure your town has room for them.
  2. Employ them on the Work page.
  3. Enable a profession they can do. 1 is highest priority; a dot disables that work type. A zero skill means they cannot do that profession.
  4. Provide a ready workplace and task, or an eligible Logistics delivery or Commerce assignment.
  5. Keep their wages paid and the walking route clear.

Priorities choose among available jobs. Setting Farming to 1 cannot make a site with a missing bench or unusable growing space ready. A worker with every other priority disabled may wait when that one job has no work due. Farming care, for example, is periodic.

Workplace types that share a skill still have separate priorities. Enable Armor Crafting for armor orders, Block Workshop for crafted building blocks, and Mycologist or Berry Patch for those growers.

Wages and availability

Review weekly wages in Bills in the journal or treasury. Pay from treasury funds before the deadline. An overdue worker stops until their bill is paid; changing priorities does not change their wage.

Guards do no profession work on duty. Use Guard: Off or the profile's return-to-civilian option when permitted. Residents also break for needs, and they need reachable work in active terrain.

Wages and Apprentice work pause while no town member is in the town's world. Food-workplace neglect also pauses during that absence. The town does not keep distant work areas loaded.

Waiting for work

Open the workplace first and read its specific status. Check the type unlock, required bench and tier, marked floor and height, ingredients or fuel, output room, required skill and task order. Then check employment, priority, wages, guard duty and access.

Logistics needs deliveries to make, not a marked workplace. Commerce needs a player-shop clerk assignment. Their individual pages explain setup.
