Cooking

Apprentices cook food items from queued recipes.

Set it up

  1. Recruit the Chef, finish their work building and unlock Cooking through their Apprentice workplace controls. You need a free workplace slot under that supervisor.
  2. Use the Building Staff, choose Create workplace, and mark two opposite ground corners inside town. Choose Cooking, name the area and save. Include the whole Chef's Stove in its marked area and height.
  3. Employ a civilian Townsfolk with a nonzero Cooking skill. On the journal's Work page, enable Cooking; priority 1 is highest. Pay their wages and leave a clear walking route.

Finish the Chef's recruitment and unlock Cooking. Open the stove, select a recipe and set a quantity, continuous work or a stock target. Store ingredients in the warehouse or let couriers collect available farm, berry and mushroom output.

Work and output

Finished meals go to Crafted Goods. Collect them at the task page or warehouse. The task screen lists the required bench tier, Cooking skill and any recipe unlock.

If work is waiting

Cooking items does not add town food-support points. The completed core Restaurant and tended Farming or Ranching workplaces affect population capacity. Check ingredients and output room when cooking pauses.

Keep the area nearby and loaded. Workers also take breaks for their needs. Open Apprentice workplaces for shared staff controls, Work priorities and wages for employment, and Warehouse and deliveries for supplies.
