Farming
A tended Farming workplace adds 10 food points, enough to support five residents. It produces no inventory items.
Set it up
- Recruit the Farmer, finish their work building and unlock Farming through their Apprentice workplace controls. You need a free workplace slot under that supervisor.
- Use the Building Staff, choose Create workplace, and mark two opposite ground corners inside town. Choose Farming, name the area and save. Include the whole Farmer's Workbench in its marked area and height.
- Employ a civilian Townsfolk with a nonzero Farming skill. On the journal's Work page, enable Farming; priority 1 is highest. Pay their wages and leave a clear walking route.
Leave at least four clear dirt, grass or tilled-soil spaces at the marked floor with room above for wheat. Townsfolk prepare the ground and plant wheat themselves: you do not need seeds or existing crops. Keep the bench and growing spaces inside the marked bounds.
Work and output
Open Food support and tending to see the growing-space count and last care. Workers revisit every six game hours. After a full simulated day without tending, the food bonus pauses until care resumes.
If work is waiting
The screen identifies missing equipment, insufficient growing space, worker requirements and path problems. Selecting a crop or bench corner includes its base, but always review the marked floor and height. Irienne's Wheat for the Town quest walks through setup. For harvested items, use Farm and Scarecrow Fields instead.
Keep the area nearby and loaded. Workers also take breaks for their needs. Open Apprentice workplaces for shared staff controls, Work priorities and wages for employment, and Warehouse and deliveries for supplies.
