Leatherworking
Apprentices turn hides into leather and make unlocked leather goods and profession equipment.
Set it up
- Recruit the Leatherworker, finish their work building and unlock Leatherworking through their Apprentice workplace controls. You need a free workplace slot under that supervisor.
- Use the Building Staff, choose Create workplace, and mark two opposite ground corners inside town. Choose Leatherworking, name the area and save. Include the whole Tanning Rack in its marked area and height.
- Employ a civilian Townsfolk with a nonzero Leatherworking skill. On the journal's Work page, enable Leatherworking; priority 1 is highest. Pay their wages and leave a clear walking route.
Recruit Hazel to her Tannery and unlock Leatherworking. Queue a tanning or leather-goods recipe at the rack. Light, medium and heavy hides need Leatherworking 1, 3 and 5 respectively. Supply the listed materials through town storage.
Work and output
Collect finished leather and equipment from Crafted Goods or the task page. An equipped Leatherworker's Roll and a Stitching Frame furnishing can improve work speed.
If work is waiting
Check the recipe's own skill and equipment requirements. Portable backpacks are crafted and upgraded directly through Hazel's backpack workshop; read Backpacks for that separate service.
Keep the area nearby and loaded. Workers also take breaks for their needs. Open Apprentice workplaces for shared staff controls, Work priorities and wages for employment, and Warehouse and deliveries for supplies.
