Ranching
A tended Ranching workplace adds 10 food points, supporting five residents. It produces no inventory items.
Set it up
- Recruit the Rancher, finish their work building and unlock Ranching through their Apprentice workplace controls. You need a free workplace slot under that supervisor.
- Use the Building Staff, choose Create workplace, and mark two opposite ground corners inside town. Choose Ranching, name the area and save. Include the whole Feeding Trough in its marked area and height.
- Employ a civilian Townsfolk with a nonzero Ranching skill. On the journal's Work page, enable Ranching; priority 1 is highest. Pay their wages and leave a clear walking route.
Craft a Feeding Trough at a Workbench from 5 tree trunks and 10 Plant Fiber. Leave clear floor space around it inside the workplace. A cow and a chicken appear automatically; you do not need to bring animals or find a breeding pair.
Work and output
An employed worker with Ranching enabled tends the site. Open Food support and tending to check care and readiness. The food bonus pauses if the workplace is neglected for a full simulated day.
If work is waiting
Keep a clear route to the trough and space for both animals. Workplace animals stay nearby and cannot be captured or killed for resources. They disappear when the site is removed. The core Rancher's Barn and owned animals system has purchased animals, food and item output instead.
Keep the area nearby and loaded. Workers also take breaks for their needs. Open Apprentice workplaces for shared staff controls, Work priorities and wages for employment, and Warehouse and deliveries for supplies.
